Clean Local Meat

No thinking person will tell you they don’t care about all that. I tell them the choice is simple: You can buy honestly priced food or you can buy irresponsibly priced food.” - Joel Salatin

Joel Salatin is a renegade farmer who won’t supply his chickens, pigs or any other meat he farms to supermarket chains. He won’t even ship meat to the next state. If you want his superb meat, you’ll have to come get it. His farm is in Virginia, USA so it’s a little too far for our readers but his story is inspiring none the less.

Michael Pollann has written a brilliant article about Joel’s revolutionary farm, well worth a read as is his book The Omnivore’s Dilemma: a Natural History of Four Meals.

  1. Great post, you are completely right about the expensive of good, and clean food. Not only that, but in the long run its much less expensive buying the clean, natural organic foods in the long hall because foods with antibiotic and all these chemicals are bad for ones body and causes all types of health problems and later on causes the person more money because they now have to see the doctor all the time.

  2. I couldn’t agree with you more. People are so conditioned to think that clean organic foods cost too much and they don’t think about all the other costs that go into the bad foods. Plus the money that they spend on trying to improve their health.
