The Nourisher - Editor’s Blog

When we got married the registry wouldn’t let me put Super Hero as my occupation, they put Home Duties on our marriage certificate instead. But I AM a Super Hero and my Super Hero name is…… The Nourisher.

Editorial :: Round Up

By The Nourisher

This month we’re rounding up all the best and most popular articles from the last two years and serving it up again. Left overs are pretty delicious, and some taste even better the next day so here goes…

1. The most linked to article to date:

Claude Lewenze interview about his book “How to Build a Village

“When we are dreaming alone it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality” - Dom Helder Camara. By far the most Nourishing book I’ve read in years, this manual of the new world is spectacular. If you have “Village Dreaming”, if you want to escape suburban hell, good news! You can. Village living is a techno-green reality.

2. Most exciting - most readers off to explore Rami’s world:

Forgotten tooth decay cure : heal your cavities and prevent root canals

In his search for a cure for his one-year-old daughter’s cavities, Rami Nagel came across the work of Dr Weston A Price, a dentist who, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, discovered the true cause of dental decay.

3. The most read recipe:

Sauerkraut

Fermented vegetables are great with most meals. Besides being a digestive aid, they have a yummy, tangy taste and cleanse your palate. Sauerkraut is one of the easiest ways to get started with fermenting vegetables. This very simple recipe includes Sally Fallon’s answers to commonly asked kraut questions.

4. The most comments, totally in 108

Bread Dread: Are you Really Gluten Intolerant?

Many believe themselves to be gluten intolerant. How then, did our agrarian ancestors live on the stuff? Clive Lawler puts the blame for modern digestive damage from wheat and other gluten grains squarely on the shoulders of the food convenience industry.. Hmmmmm

5. Most arguments:

Grass Fed Meat: our true environmental savior

Climate Change is caused by cow farts…What? Why is a race of omnivore’s being urged to become herbivores in order to save the earth? What’s the science and who’s really to benefit from us eating less meat?

6. Very popular:

Insulin Resistance: The Real Culprit

The article the Food Giants and Big Pharma don’t want you to read… Filled with shocking science that flies in the face of common nutritional recommendations and exposes medical lies, Rosedale focuses on what truly creates chronic disease.

7. Most comments/inter-activity:

ASK SALLY :: Weight Gain :: Raw Milk

Question: I’m applying everything I can from Eat Fat Lose Fat and Nourishing Traditions into my daily menus, and ABSOLUTELY loving it. Only problem is, after 2 months I have gained weight and am not losing at all.

Herdshare News

Wow, so much is happening on the herdshare front. Subscribers have grown to 1170 - over 450 in the last month. We’ve also set up a facebook page, which has 176 fans and 224 people are following us on twitter: that’s just over the last month. Social Media is amazing!

2009 will be a year of great change, Rudd says great challenges. We prefer the term ‘great birthing’: the birth of a new way of living. It may be a little intense - every birth is - but oh so worth it. Securing our local food sources and agricultural land for our families and our future will prove to be the best thing we did this year. Rather like doing yoga each day for months before you get to the birthing chamber, we’ll be ready when (if) the pains come. Limbered up and well Nourished, we’ll be firmly connected to our food sources and aint no corporation gonna get in the way again.

Sign up to herdshare.com or our other mediums and you’ll be updated as soon as we’ve released the next website, which will help you network in your community and watch your co-operative build. By June, if you’re ready to go, we’ll release the herdshare software and the farm fresh milk will flow..
