When we got married the registry wouldn't let me put Super Hero as my occupation, they put Home Duties on our marriage certificate instead. But I AM a Super Hero and my Super Hero name is...... The Nourisher.

I grow vegetables and herbs on my roof, I create things out of clay and I like to photograph nature doing her thing. I find these activities therapeutic and a means to celebrate and interact with the Earth.

It feels important to stay in contact with the changing seasons, growing, nurturing and using plants and foods as they take their turn, sleeping and resting in the dark winter time and living in the light.

When I am engaged in these activities, I AM the goddess.. I can feel her reaching out through me to shape the world. I can also feel her acting through me when I am caring for people, laughing and enjoying life. I try to be a conduit for her love and creativity.

ALL women are the goddess - quietly nurturing, loving, healing and helping things grow (in spite of circumstances!).

Love to you all .. what a fabulous blog :-)

Cooking is my connection to the Goddess energy. My time in the kitchen has transformed from resentment to an appreciation, love and understanding of natural cycles. The cycles of birth, life and death are all to be found in the kitchen. Whether animal or plant foods, a life has been lost so that mine will be nourished and I always offer a prayer of thanks in recognition of this. Eating and cooking seasonally is also a connection to the goddess energy, an awareness of the cyclical changes that occurr in my environment and also inside my body - my hormonal seasons - with the use of food to nourish, stimulate, calm or clear depending on the season. In my kitchen I feel an amazing sense of power and strength alongside other more tender feelings of nourishment and nurturing.

As still a 'maiden' so to speak, the goddess has filled my life with one of trusting and acting on my instincts for all parts of my life, from my food, brews, to cosmetics and career, to men. She is currently teaching me the path of 'no resistance', and to move with the flow. She is also prompting me to let my dark side out a little more, and play with Baba Yaga. She's kind of scary by the way.....

I express the goddess through my dancing. It is when I feel truly alive and feminine. Just as women have so many facets to their personality, dance is a way I can express a lot of them, (which ordinarily don't get much air time in the real world.) As the music changes, so does the dance....

The birth of my son has truly grounded me in the wisdom and grace of millions of women and men around the world who work hard to give their children a solid, loving and nurturing foundation in life. It has connected me to that innate feeling that all parents share. Once we remember that we are all connected through the joy of parenthood and we have all seen the pure love that radiates from the eyes of a child then we can embrace the compassion, empathy and understanding that the Goddess truly represents.

This year has taught me so much about being a strong, sexy and confident woman. Part of it has come from my connection to this forum, part of it from having my first child, but most of it has come from discovering the Goddess inside me. Finding beauty that goes beyond make up and provocative clothing. My beauty comes from digging into the earth and encouraging plant life, it comes from hours of careful preparation in the kitchen, it comes from gently guiding my son as he continues to grow and learn, and from enjoying my own body enough to let go and not be afraid of who I am around my husband. My beauty has come from acceptance of self. I now realize the influence I have on the world around me and that humbles me and gives me new confidence. I love the woman I have discovered because for the first time I feel everything I've wanted to feel; confidence, beautiful, sexy and strong.
