When we got married the registry wouldn't let me put Super Hero as my occupation, they put Home Duties on our marriage certificate instead. But I AM a Super Hero and my Super Hero name is...... The Nourisher.

Since writing this, October 2006, I have been shown a larger view of abundance and the monetary system. This post, while sweet, it utterly naive and fantastical. I've come to realise that using the monetary system to express gratitude is like using a base ball bat to pat your dog. There is no freedom in money. Money - the paper stuff - is Slavery. This sounds like a bit of a turn around, I agree. But I've come to see that money - the paper stuff - and abundance are not the same thing. In fact, they are the opposite. The Monetary system is a gigantic ponsy scheme, designed to create debt and poverty. It's a game which is un winable. No one on the pyramid is winning. Those at the top may think they are but they're losing our beautiful ecosystems just as we are. There's no abundance in that.
The reason I've come to this conclusion is in response to various books and articles I've read about the reality of money including Charles Eisenstein's Money and The Crisis of Civilization and the latest Zeitgeist Movie. I hope every human sees this film. I now believe it is possible, imperative and inevitable we dispense with money. The fact is, under this scheme, the more money we make the less another makes. It is inevitable. Money is the cruelest game we humans have ever played. And we've even fooled ourselves into believing we can't NOT play it. We've fooled ourselves into believing we can't live without it. Tres Bizarre.
We need to return to trading, or better still grow the f*ck up and just share the Earth's resources equally with each human. Imagining money as gratitude notes will help us to make clearer decisions about what to do for and with it, but realising that we don't actually need it for incentive, protection, power or to belong is probably more useful right now. Check out the Venus Project.

This was exactly the concept I was looking to express in my February opener to our newsletter! Thank you so much for publishing this. I searched for hours trying to find a way to connect Gratitude and Money without being religious about it. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! All writers are messangers and you are truly a messanger! Feel free to contact me.
