It just struck me that we have no reference to Family Planning and Natural Contraception on our site. Dr Mercola’s blog reminded me this morning with the scary post title How Contraceptives Kill a Women’s Libido For the Long Term.
This sent me on a search for references on the web for more wholistic alternatives
My favourite is the Billings Method which has been proven very effective. It requires daily attention to and recording of signs of fertility to avoid penetrative sex during the fertile times. Rather than suppressing fertility using drugs and devices, awareness and respect of the woman’s cycle and co-operation between the woman and man leads to their ability to conceive when they are ready and not before.
The Billings Ovulation Method of natural family planning was developed by husband and wife team Drs John and Evelyn Billings and Fr Maurice Catarinich, all of Melbourne, Australia and has since spread worldwide. The compassionate, non judgemental way in which this method is taught is encouraging and acceptable to those of any religious or spiritual persuasion.
I also found a couple of devices that would be very useful using this method.
The Ovu-tec and its cousin the Ovatel can be used to plan pregnancies and avoid them.
As usual, we find that modern medicine’s tendency to mess with the body’s normal function rather than taking responsiblity and going with the flow of nature, will cause dis-ease. A more nourising choice for women are these more natural methods.
Men can also make more nourishing choices by redirecting the seminal flow. Many ancient lineages of Tantra are beginning to step into the mainstream. Icarus and Oceana teach a method that stops ejaculation and prolongs sexual play indefinitely. An easy way to get started with these type of techniques is the Mantak Chia “million dollar point” which also redirects men’s sexual energy to the higher energy centres. Sound’s difficult? It is a journey but one well worth taking, and your woman won’t believe her luck..
