It’s a David and Goliath story no matter which way you look at it. Real Raw Milk is getting a hiding everywhere.
In California, the sneaky legislators surreptitiously passed laws that deemed it impossible for Mark McAfee to sell Real Raw Milk to his 100,000 plus customers. (watch his Raw Milk Ninja interview)
Georgia Agriculture Department was stopped (thankfully) from passing a law requiring Real Raw Milk producers to dye their milk an unappetizing dark grey.
The Australian Department of Primary Industries attacked Real Raw Milk saying, “You should drink pasteurised milk - it’s the law for very good reasons. Too many people were getting sick in previous eras.” Well the first part of that statement is true. The second is most definitely not. The ‘very good reasons’ the law is the way it is are important to consider. Who benefits from pasteurising milk the most? Corporations. That’s the end of the story.
Why all this interest from the bully boys in various departments of puppetry around the world? Look no further than the newspapers. With well researched and balanced articles in the Washington Post, New York Times and Newspapers in United Kingdom, Real Raw Milk is getting a lot of attention. RealMilk.com was created in 1998 with 1/2 page of sources for Real Raw Milk. Now there are more than 24 pages of farmers, retail stores and herd shares all over the US and the world. Studies are being reported showing Real Raw Milk is beneficial for Allergies and Asthma. And here in Australia Raw Cheese enthusiasts are fighting for the right to make raw cheese saying, “We import raw cheese from Europe, why aren’t we allowed to make our own”. I’ll tell you why. Agricorp is getting antsy. They may lose their strangle hold on the 1.6 billion litres of milk that are produced in Australia every year. No wonder their lackeys in the various departments of supposed civil service are starting to jump up and down.
It never ceases to amaze me that cigarettes, known to kill, are freely available from every corner store but Real Raw Milk users must undertake clandestine operations to obtain what they consider to be their right. Pure Real Raw Milk from Farmers they trust.
Sally Fallon, president of the Weston A Price Foundation, often states that there is a big difference between Real Raw Milk and unpasteurised milk from common industrial dairies:
- The cows are pasture fed. They only eat grass or hay, not citrus peel, out of date confectionary and manure. Pasture fed cow’s milk has components that fight contamination with pathogenic bacteria, industrial milk does not. Pasture fed cow’s don’t get sick as often as industrial cows so they need less treatment with antibiotics.
- The dairies must be spotlessly clean to avoid contamination: something common industrial dairies don’t need to think about, their milk will be pasteurised at the plant anyway.
- The milk must be cooled to below 4 deg C very quickly and kept at that temperature until the customer gets it. This is easy to do with today’s technology.

Well said Joanne,
It is certainly time to up the ante on the public figures who distort the truth. I was inspired by Anthony Colpo’s willingness to take on all comers, doctors, professors and medical boffins to bring to the public the lies that are peddled through these people by the corporations. His book, The Great Cholesterol Con is a brave and well researched statement for the path we are all trying to follow. Let’s hope we can get our message across to them and create a larger voice for our puppet officials to take notice of.

Dear Joanne,
Ensuromg supply of Natural Milk to one and all is a step in the right direction for Australia. All people must be able to have Vegetables & milk in their most natural state.

Thank you for your support Dr Lata. I do hope you have registered your support with Real Milk Australia.

Thank you for sharing this, Joanne.
It is certainly an encouragement.
In my country, in the modern big city where I live, it is not easy to get natural or organic foods. Although there are signs of more and more organic foods displayed on the shelves, it is happening very gradually.
Keep up on the information. I’ve bookmarked this page.

Some good news just in from Organic Pastures Dairy in California USA
AB 1735 ACTION ALERT
The Final Push
NEXT STEP :
Get Serious with the Secretary of Agriculture
——————————————————————————–
As a direct result of your actions last week, we now have the support of all key assembly representatives to overturn AB 1735.
However, your assemblymen have expressed concern that we do not have the support of the California Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. A.G. Kawamura.
He appears to be the last raw milk challenge standing.
It is critical that we create an avalanche of political pressure like last week, only stronger in message (see below). Please focus all of your efforts on A.G. Kawamura.
Contact the CA Secretary of Agriculture immediately!
Please call him today and send out as many letters and faxes as possible.
A.G. Kawamura
Secretary of Food and Agriculture
1220 N St., Suite 400
Sacramento, Ca. 95814
Phone: (916) 654-0321 or (916) 654-0433
Fax: 916-654-0403
The message to him should be very strong, yet respectful. The talking points we suggest may sound harsh but they reflect the truth (see “Background” below). The Secretary needs to know what has happened on his watch:
Certain corrupt staff members within CDFA have personal prejudice against raw milk. They have participated and conspired in an illegal, secret, and silent process to deny California consumers their access to raw milk.
Demand that the Ag Secretary use his power to immediately suspend or reverse AB 1735 and the “less-than-10 coliform” standard for raw milk in California.
Demand that the CDFA staff who misrepresented raw milk science and snuck the groundless coliform standard into AB 1735 be dismissed immediately.
Background:
We have discovered that certain staff members in CDFA actually committed crimes by “introducing negative language into a bill which would be applied to an industry which it regulates.” This is outrageous illegal activity; it defies written administrative policy and must not be tolerated within CDFA. The normal legal process requires CDFA to bring any legislative language to the attention of the governors office prior to contacting an assembly committee. CDFA misrepresented facts, claiming AB 1735 was so insignificant that it could be handled “as a consent item†and did not require discussion or debate. Other substantial and material misstatements of fact also occurred to keep AB 1735 secret and silent.
This is the big event we have all been working towards. It may be the last effort needed to overcome AB 1735. Please call today and send your letters.

Good news for Raw Milk!!
CALIFORNIA RAW MILK WILL LIVE!
California’s raw milk supply will NOT be interrupted in
January, 2008 or beyond!
It will be a happy, healthy New Year indeed! California consumers have spoken loudly against AB 1735’s biased, scientifically unsupported restrictions on raw milk. Your passionate voices have been heard.
In the last three weeks, the CA raw milk battle front has been abuzz with tremendous grass roots effort, back stage political activity, and high level meetings. As a result, the course of California raw milk history has been changed.
Here is a brief update of the progress:
Three things protect your raw milk in California:
The Secretary of Agriculture has offered political support. A.G. Kawamura has dedicated himself to safe raw milk for California, declaring that “AB 1735 standards will not act as a de-facto ban on raw milk.” Secretary Kawamura made this statement adamantly and repeatedly at a December 20th meeting with Claravale and Organic Pastures dairy representatives. He pledged to review our four-inch stack of documentation entitled “AB 1735: Raw Milk-The Unheard Argument” and promised to work with us to assure raw milk’s continued availability.
A new law will be introduced in January reversing AB 1735. An investigation has exposed certain CDFA employees who met without authorization and, using erroneous data, advised staff members of the Assembly Agriculture Committee to place “eight special anti-raw milk words” into AB 1735. All CDFA agency legislative matters and bills must be reviewed and authorized by the governor’s office, as required by executive branch and administrative policy and procedure. Instead, highly misleading information was used to rapidly and secretly pass AB 1735 on a “consent item” basis without discussion or open debate. Assemblymen and State Senators who voted for AB 1735 are now very upset that they were misled, and support immediate repeal on procedural grounds. The attorney general’s office might step in, having noted an aberrant violation of established process in furtherance of a “biased agenda that is far from being consent item.”
A lawsuit is being filed this week in San Benito County. Part of that lawsuit includes an injunction which legally secures raw milk producers against enforcement of AB 1735 standards. This allows more certain protection against AB 1735 until a new law can be passed.
While the raw milk fight is far from over, the safety of the California raw milk supply has been secured with multiple layers of strategic political, legislative, and legal efforts. Hearings will soon be announced as part of the new bill and legislative process that will start in January. Your attendance will be essential to deepen the protections put in place.
Keep Sending a Powerful Message: In order to strengthen our work going forward, we ask that you take pictures of yourself and your family holding raw milk bottles from Claravale and/or OPDC. Write on the picture: “Please support repeal of AB 1735.” Then mail them to the Governor’s office, your State Assemblymen, and State Senators’ offices. The impact of a personal plea with a picture of your family is worth a thousand words.
Congratulations to all who participate in the “grass roots raw milk revolution.” Your thousands of letters and calls made all the difference! CA Raw Milk is SAFE from AB 1735 and those that sought to eliminate this sacred healing whole food.
Warmly,
Mark McAfee, Founder OPDC

Does anyone know where you can get raw milk in Darwin and Cairns? I spend a lot of time in both those places but have never seen or heard of it being available in either…. Thanks :-)
May 10th, 2008 at 9:10 am
Annabel, there are a few dairies in Cairns who would probably be happy to let some milk spill into your bucket. Just contact them and ask. Otherwise a herdshare is the way to go. Since there are already herd shares’ in Qld, you can just copy the contract they already use (find it on realmilk.com). We here in NSW must start from scratch, hence the time it is taking to start the herd share here.

Register at herdshare.com to start a herdshare and secure a local real raw milk supply in your region. Own your own cow and no-one can stop you drinking from it.

Hi. I just can’t wait for the herdshare to take place in sydney or within a reasonable, yet local area, so I can happily get raw milk. This is funny. This morning I was doing the dishes after cooking a breakfast of porridge, but having been forced to use the regular organic milk and was feeling slightly iffy at my husband and the reason was: “He had a chance to buy property years ago, but chose not to, so here we are stuck in Sydney, when we could have easily been somewhere more rural, drinking natural organic raw milk, from our own place!”
I used to get Cleos, but I can’y afford it at the moment as we go through 8 litres a week at least as my kids love milk and they loved raw milk.
