And as is my tendancy, she took a little longer to come than expected. January was our original launch date and we’re 4 weeks overdue. What’s all this about birthing on time any way? Our kids had 41 to 43 week long gestations, and were born in perfect condition, leading me to believe that ‘overdue’ really means, ‘inconveniencing the obstetrician’ and ‘inducement’ really means ‘hurry up I’ve got a conference to go to’. So, having my own mind, I don’t really feel too bad about the lateness of her birth.
Yes, we’ve taken our own sweet time creating Nourished Magazine and the arrival is so much sweeter. We wanted to make her perfect and I believe we’ve come pretty close. We are very grateful for those who attended the birth and wish to acknowledge their support here. Thank you to:
- Ray, Angela, Wendy, Karen and the rest of our wonderful community who supported us and our kids while we holed up in the office for the last month working on this thing
- Grandma, Meema, Nan and Aunty Jean who took the kids on fun vacations while we worked
- Craig Rochfort who did the beautiful design
- All our contributors and advertisers who are supporting us in our infancy.
- NEIS - The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme is a wonderful government program which helps new businesses get up and running. I did a ten week course in business management, constructing a business plan which took me 2 weeks to write - a very good exercise. Thanks to my business mentor, Rob Wells, who encouraged us through the course. Once the business plan passed the board I qualified for a fortnightly payment for the next year regardless of how much the business makes. It’s thanks to that financial support Wes and I were able to take a little longer and make Nourished Magazine even better than we thought we would
- Wordpress.org who created a wonderful product in Wordpress Multi User, which allows us to open the Nourished conversation up to many more bloggers and contributers.
Please, take a look around, starting at this month’s mag issue, and feel free to tell us if you find any imperfections as well as ooohing and aaahing at how beautiful our new baby is.
